Spore, Mass Effect for PC to Require Periodic Online Validation
In the BioWare forums, technical producer Derek French stated that the PC versions of Mass Effect and Spore are going to use SecuROM copy protection that requires online validation on install and validation every ten days for the game to keep working.
It's a sad state of affairs when companies resort to draconian DRM to try and protect their games. All this is going to do is upset people, and cause tech support problems. Everyone knows that five minutes after the game is out it's going to get cracked. So in the end all they will have done is make it harder for paying customers to use their product. I think the guys at Penny Arcade said it best with their latest comic.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe Initial Characters Announced
This Mortal Kombat game is going to feature characters from the DC comics universe. So far, the only characters confirmed to be in the game are Scorpion, Sub Zero, Batman and Superman.
According to ED Boon in an interview, there won't be any fatalities. I fear this may irritate die hard Mortal Kombat fans. He also stated that you won't see Batman or Superman tear people's heads off or killing people.
I'm thinking I might just have to get a PS3 just so I can play this game. If the trailers are any indication of game play this one looks like a winner so far.

Now this is just awesome. Lately, it looks like the bad guys are taking it on the chin.

THQ Exec: Console War Is "Totally Irrelevant"
I have to disagree with Jack Sorenson on this one. He might think a console wore is irrelevant for game publishers, but ultimately its up to the consumer. Without a console war there would be no competition. Without competition gaming and consoles would never be where they are now. It's simple economics. Competition is always good for the consumer, and that ultimately is who they should be concerned with.

Two months ago I walked through how to build a Hackintosh Mac on the cheap using PC parts. Since that post, the OSx86 scene has changed rapidly, and now you can install Leopard on your computer about as easily as installing Leopard on a Mac—no command line hacking required.

An astute camera-phone photographer caught this little gem at his local Walmart. From the article: "Obviously Microsoft is paying big money for these endcap displays, and I can’t help but feel they might have a problem with this."
